A Bordeaux-style red grown on URLAR's Baxter's Block in Gladstone, Wairarapa - a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc, co-fermented together to fully express the character of the site. The wine spent 10 months maturing in French oak before being carefully bottled, resulting in a wine with genuine structure and long-term ageing potential.

Aroma

Complex and layered, spanning floral and fruity through to savoury - violets, cassis, clove and plum give way to sandalwood, tomato leaf, oregano and leather.

Tastes

Savoury and structured, with tomato flesh, roasted capsicum and fleshy red plum. Broad, generous tannins and driving acidity carry the wine through a lengthy finish, pointing to real potential for long ageing (6-8 years). A great match for a barbecue, grilled red meats, or a hearty shared dinner.
